Our story
HirschenHof
For over 30 years I'd been toying with the idea of doing something in the hotel and/or restaurant business.
The starting point of my story was in 1989, during my marketing studies, when I did a job setting up a restaurant serving Austro-Bavarian-inspired cuisine. Having fallen in love with the Austrian Alps a few years earlier, this work set the DNA for the gîte project in the Ardennes, which saw the light of day in 2021.

Nature, naturalness and well-being
The village of Vlessart was chosen for its location in the heart of the 7,000-hectare beech forest of the Grande Forêt d'Anlier and for its authentic rural and forest character.
The building is being constructed by local companies. The building is rectangular, compact and made from natural materials (framework, interior and exterior wood cladding, straw bale and clay insulation).
The decor is a resolute combination of what the Alps and the Ardennes have in common: wood, touches of forest and, above all, the omnipresent presence of the Lord of our Forests. You'll find the deer on a tapestry, its antlers above the fireplace and in various objects. Naturally, he gave his name to the house... "the house of the stag" in German.... of course to resonate with the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. The walls are made of planks from old Austrian chalets and barns. You'll find all the softness and beauty of natural, noble materials, harmoniously matched in warm colours.
I've put all my heart into designing a place in which I hope you'll have an unforgettable experience.
